EOS Laser Sintering Machines
NW Rapid Manufacturing operates EOS plastic laser sintering systems for the direct manufacture of functional rapid prototypes and plastic parts.
There are 2 manufacturers of plastic laser sintering systems: Electro Optical Systems (EOS) GmbH and 3D Systems. The machines produced by both of these companies operate on the same basic principle of melting powder with a laser, layer-by-layer.
There are also a couple distinct differences.
- The EOS system, unlike 3D Systems, is designed to allow the use of other materials not directly supplied by the vendor. Without this open architecture, we would not be able to produce parts from our PALS materials.
- Another benefit is the robust German engineering that minimizes downtime.
EOS laser sintering systems, including our P390 and P730, are very reliable, running 1000s of hours with little maintenance.
