SLS Laser Sintered Composite Parts
SLS Laser Sintering can produce composite parts at a lower cost with added design feature.
Part of the beauty of SLS laser sintering is the potential to replace both conventional and non-conventional methods. Composite lay-up can be tricky and labor intensive. Creating laser sintered parts is much more automated and can save cost and/or allow additional design features to be added with ease.
- Actually, sphere and/or fiber filled SLS parts are technically composites.
- All of the materials in our PALS family are in fact composites.
- Our electroplated plastic parts are also a metal/plastic composite.
- Traditional composites or fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) such as carbon fiber and Kevlar can be bonded to our SLS parts to add stiffness or strength with minimal additional weight.
- All SLS Materials are less dense than traditional carbon fiber lay-ups.
- Light weight lattice structures, created from software packages such as Netfabb or Magics, can be combined with traditional composites to maximize performance while minimizing weight.
